My mother lived at Moorside for 18 months and while she was there, she was very happy and contented. The care she was given was outstanding. We felt like family and were always given the opportunity to ask questions. I became a volunteer as I wanted to give something back. Over three years on and it's still so rewarding, helping people living with dementia. The quality of care has continued to be of the highest standard.
Since moving to St John's Moorside, we have seen a significant improvement in our mother's ability to communicate and interact. The care and stimulation she receives from the staff is exemplary. The surroundings are welcoming, safe and clean. The management and communication from St John's Moorside are very good and our family could not be happier with the care provided. A particular bonus is the lovely, well-maintained garden.

Moorside is run very professionally, creating a home environment for the residents. It is kept very clean and tidy. The place is light and airy and the staff are caring and responsive to the resident's needs with different activities organised by the staff and volunteers.

I love my job at Moorside. I decided to become an Activities Co-ordinator after I had looked after and cared for my own late Mum. For me, it doesn’t feel like coming to work as it’s my passion and a pleasure. Moorside is a very special place, with a lovely vibe and brilliant care. The relationships between residents and staff make it feel like we are all one big, strong family! We care for each other, and the residents and my colleagues become one of my own.

Moorside Winchester is a secret treasure! We are so grateful to have found 'you'. My mother, who is 88, has received nothing but the best of care at Moorside. So many positives to this care home. - Stunning garden where residents can enjoy their surroundings. - Eating meals around the table. - Staff knowledge of dementia is a breath of fresh air. So much support and understanding for residents and their families.

Mum is cared for, looked after, kept clean, healthy and happy. We would not want her to be anywhere else. This is a fantastic place to live. Specialist care, happy staff and good entertainment. This is Mum's home and it certainly feels like it for her and all the family visiting.

It was a traumatic time knowing my Gran could know longer cope at home. The staff at Moorside made this decision easier with their kindness and understanding. My Gran has now been living at Moorside for some time and has improved in herself so much. The staff are kind and caring. I'm so relieved that my Gran is in such a wonderful place.

My husband has been in Moorside for over two years and I have nothing but admiration for the care he has received during this time. The staff are compassionate and friendly and treat him with respect - I feel that they are part of my wider family! The home is small and intimate and has no clinical feel, unlike some of the larger homes I viewed before choosing Moorside. I would have no hesitation in recommending Moorside to any prospective resident.

I shall really miss Moorside and the St John's community in general. I shall take with me many happy memories of Moorside both while Sheila was a resident and since her death. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to volunteer which I have found very rewarding and most enjoyable.

My father has been at Moorside for just over a year. I needed him to be safe, warm, fed and well cared for. I needed to know that I could sleep at night knowing that I did not have to worry about him so that I could manage the similar decline in the health of my mother. I have found all those criteria and more. The care is considered, personal and dignified. The staff are devoted to the place and the residents and show the utmost respect. The staff are clearly well-led. As well as this, the governance appears to be very much in order. I have been impressed with the willingness of the management to involve the resident's families in the way the home can be improved. Moorside provides trust, friendship, welcome and support that has given me and my mother huge comfort. Throughout his care, we have been informed, been part of the process and cannot fault the processes involved. No better recommendation can be that I will be doing my best to ensure my Mother has a place at Moorside.

Our goal is to enable people living with dementia to live their lives to the fullest. Living with dementia is very daunting and there are daily challengers; you never have the same day twice! Staff come to work genuinely happy, with smiles on their faces. We all support each other like a big family. We are encouraged to give new ideas about fundraising and how we can better support our residents. We recently climbed Mt Snowdon to raise funds for dementia sensory equipment, and last year we abseiled 1000 metres down Emirates' Spinnaker Tower! Here at Moorside, we overcome hard times together and do so with fun and laughter in a nurturing, loving environment. I am proud to work for St John's and am excited for the future and what we can achieve as a team.

Thank you for looking after my father-in-law. The staff were out of this world, nothing was too much trouble. My father-in-law can be very difficult at times but all staff remained professional. I know how hard work he can be. Moorside was clean and well kept. The staff put my mother-in-law's mind at ease. The chef adapted the menu to suit my father-in-law's picky pallet.

I’ve learnt a lot about dementia during my very enjoyable time as a volunteer. I love joining the residents for a chat, a laugh and helping them with various activities. Moorside is filled with laughter but it's also a relaxing place for all of us.

My wife Grace has Alzheimer’s Disease and has been living at Moorside for the past three years. Moorside has truly been her ‘home from home’. I visit twice every day and always receive a warm and caring welcome from all members of Moorside staff. The Moorside ethos, quality of care in the purpose-built building and standard of cleanliness is exceptional, providing such a comfort to family members.

Volunteering at Moorside is a natural continuation of my long association with St John’s Winchester. Mondays wouldn’t be Mondays if I didn’t come along to support my dear friends (the residents and staff) and to assist the services led by Alison, our Chaplain.

The professionalism and care my relative received from the staff undoubtedly contributed to her contentment and well-being.
